Re: You may all now call me Dr. Lynn. ;)

No harm done, but the toast is appreciated.

:D

Today was a good day. I just had some odds and ends to take care of, getting papers signed and whatnot. It was fun, everytime I'd stop at someone's office, we'd end up talking for at least 30 minutes.

It's a nice feeling.

Actually Lynn, I think Gerald appears more interested in the behavioral sciences, ie, who's going to make the cup of tea, iron the shirts, hand the remote over. Be careful what you wish for Gerald, that hot tea could come flying at you leaving a nasty bump on the head and some modest scalding (phys...

Re: You may all now call me Dr. Lynn. ;)

Well, you've got two central principles of chemical engineering right there Gerald.

Ironing: heat transfer

making tea: heat transfer and mass transfer

Mr. Lynn is the electrical engineer so I'll leave him to the innards of the remote. I'll deal with the plastic encasing it (polymer science again).

Re: Wall St. Jrnl: Speed Bumps, and an Exit, on Iran's Nuclear

They make a good point in that the "exit ramp" just might not be enough of an incentive, even if sanctions are applied across the board. Officials in Arab countries have already said they'll align themselves with Iran if they get a bomb, and that would affect the relations of other countri...

Re: Israel Through European Eyes

I always thought it to be rather simple. People sympathize with victims, underdogs. The Palestinians are seen as the underdogs. Therefore, what they do can be excused, what Israel does can't. Hence, the double standard. And of course, since the Palestinians are victims, they have to be dealt with de...

Re: French MPs vote to ban Islamic veil

Hi Jacob can you tell me where in Islam it states that women have to wear a veil? Which if, as I believe, it doesn't then surely your First Amendment does not apply. Re: Russia Tells Iran to Come Clean Over Weapons Work

I fully understand the Arab states being worried about Iran, they've got more to lose than Israel.

But why Russia? Why would they care all of a sudden? Or are they just paying lip service? Is it really due to Obama's diplomatic efforts? (I can't help but be skeptical about that)

Re: French MPs vote to ban Islamic veil

In some states I'm sure it would. There would be a huge uproar and the Supreme Court would call the legislation unconstitutional, but it could definetely get a majority in support in some states. This case shows why there needs to be checks and balances on democracy. The people can't be allowed to ...
