Re: How to avoid distasteful peace-making

If I had been a Palestinian in a camp I wouldn't have been me. Human beings are a product of a mixture of influences between their genetic inheritance and their environment. I would have been subject to the pressures of being Palestinian, gone through the school system where Israeli territory legiti...

Re: How to avoid distasteful peace-making

How would I be if I had grown up in a camp, you ask Davebt. We have discussed this several times in this forum. What would we be like had we been in the Palestinians' place? I believe that we would never have got there. We would have grabbed the other half of the partition, knowing it wasn't what we...

Re: How to avoid distasteful peace-making

Davebt thank you for the lesson in morals. We cannot and must not continue with ruling over another population - it is fundementally wrong. The time is up and if you cannot see the way the wind is blowing I cannot help you. The time was always up. The situation should never have happened. The reason...

Re: How to avoid distasteful peace-making

Here is the view of a respected commentator: To say that Israel, or Israelis, don't care about "peace" is so off-base that it borders on calumny. But to say that Israelis don't care about an inherently flawed "peace process" that has resulted in the deaths of thousands of people ...

Re: How to avoid distasteful peace-making

Dan I see that your understanding of the realities of the ME does not include the fragmented nature of the PA and the strength of the hold that Hamas has established over its client people. Re: How to avoid distasteful peace-making

This also answers Margie's statement. No need for penalty clauses. If people are tired of war and truely want peace, and if the plan is designed so that both sides believe that the plan will lead to peace, it will be carried out. If people do not want peace, no amount of penalty clauses will help. ...

Most of Israel would be flagellating itself if such a thing had been done by one of ours. Hamas, however, merely says that this is one of a series, more to come. Re: Sauce for the goose & gander

Presumably they will all be equal citizens in their own country - men equal to men, women equal to women, but in other Arab countries they have never been equal, never had citizenship and were never accepted. The only country in the ME in which Palestinians were ever equal citizens is Israel.
